CPSI-2364
CPSI-2364 is an orally active form of the synthetic guanylhydrazone semapimod. CPSI-2364 inhibits signal transduction pathways that produce proinflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-alpha, IL-1, IL-6) and nitric oxide. These signal transduction pathways and proinflammatory molecules are known to be active in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. CPSI-2364 may therefore have widespread application to these diseases.
In animal models CPSI-2364 has shown protective activity against a wide variety of conditions, ranging from stroke to inflammatory bowel disease. Clinical studies with semapimod showed activity in several disease conditions (e.g., psoriasis, Crohn's disease, ERCP-induced pancreatitis). CPSI-2364 has just completed Phase I testing and is scheduled for Phase II trials in 2010.
CPSI is seeking licensing partners for CPSI-2364 in various indications and territories.
