 | Cervidil®/Propess® Vaginal Insert (Cervidil® in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand; Propess® in most other countries)
The first product marketed using CPSI’s proprietary hydrogel polymer system, the Cervidil/Propess vaginal insert, is a sustained-release formulation of dinoprostone, a synthetic prostaglandin E2 used when there is a medical need for cervical ripening, i.e., preparing the cervix for labor. The insert comes in a knitted polyester retrieval system, allowing quick and easy removal at the appropriate time (e.g., following the onset of labor). The insert is approved in over 50 countries around the world.
CPSI licensed US rights to Forest Laboratories, who launched the product in 1995 under the name Cervidil. Outside the US, rights have been licensed to Ferring, BV (EU, Canada and certain other countries), to PAC Med (India), to CSL Laboratories (Australia and New Zealand), to Beijing Med-Pharm (Peoples’ Republic of China), to Vitalis Health Care Products (Turkey) and to various other distributors. CPSI is seeking licensing partners for Japan, certain parts of Latin America, India and for various countries in Southeast Asia. |
